62. Taff goes walkabout

Well Taff has been confined pretty much to the house and what little bit of playing he can do with the neighbor pup in both fenced pens as the weather here has been just EVIL with snow and ice for two months.

It is too dangerous out there to even try and walk on the thin ice crust, over a foot of snow, over 4 inches of solid ice, the other day I put on half my wardrobe and  "Ice Guards" on my boots and it took me and Taff 45 minutes to walk half a mile!!!

So today was a bit clearer and sunny but tomorrow  the "storm of the season"  as the weather man is calling it, is headed our way, more snow over the ice over the snow over the ice!

That's it! I had a mini meltdown, I jumped in the truck, raced off to the big store and bought Taff a treadmill, we're gonna walk bubba, one way or another, mother nature can't beat us!

Well first there was the niggling detail of assembly with him running in and out 47 times, I am pretty sure he thought it was a dog bed with a built in massager, after all our last big ticket purchase for him was a his own sofa bed-don't ask, what more could he possibly need? haha

Finally after about an hour we got it together, then there is the 72 page instruction book of which  71 pages is  basically how not to get sued by the company that built it, oh and keep away from pets:)

When we turned it on we realized you can do about 105mph on this thing which still ain't as fast as Taff can trot, but you can also turn it down to less than half a mile per hour which is barely moving...ah ha perfect.

I turn it on, it's amazingly quiet, Taff wonders over and eye balls it, trying to figure out what we have bought for his enjoyment now....spoiled boy....he looks at me kind of puzzled...what kind of toy is this....I said look Taff I have a hot dog whoooo hooo and shut it off!

Taff came over and stood on the tread and looked it over and looked at the hot dog in my hand, I turned it on to 1/2 mph and held the hot dog in front of his face, in 3 seconds he figured out he had to walk to get the hotdog!

Today is the first day of the rest of his life, no more free treats, this is great!!!

I can now lounge on his sofa bed, in front of the cozy electric fireplace, wolfing down human treats, and walk the dog when the wind chill is 12 below, or it's rainin so hard you have to row:)

You don't think I'm gonna walk on that thing do ya... what are you thinking!!! haha.
